Choosing a Major

Choosing a college major is not a decision that should be taken lightly. Many students begin college knowing exactly what they want to study, others go to school to discover what interests them. Either way, it is important to choose your major wisely.

  • Most students declare their major by the end of their sophomore year.
  • Take several general courses first and decide which subjects interest you.
  • Talk with your academic advisor about areas of learning that you are good at or interested in.
  • If you cannot decide upon just one major, consider double-majoring or taking on a minor in another subject.
